The Crystal of Nightmares
Goldar decided to use the Crystal of Nightmares to drain the self-confidence of the Rangers, making their powers worthless. From a secluded cave in Angel Grove, Goldar charged the Crystal of Nightmares with energy from his sword. The Crystal appeared to be a clear glass orb which rested on a bed of glowing blue crystals, themselves resting on a podium of made of stone. Goldar planned to use the crystal to turn the dreams of the Power Rangers into nightmares.
As Goldar touched the tip of his sword to the crystal, each sleeping teen began to suffer distressing dreams of each time they had failed in combat. As the teens continued to dream, the energy surrounding the crystal became more excited, striking out around the cave.
Dreams become nightmares
Billy dreamed of being swallowed by the Terror Toad, whilst Trini remembered being incapacitated by Goldar. Zack dreamed of the time he was forced to fight Knasty Knight alone, mistakenly thinking that his friends did not care about him. Bulk and Skull fantasised about being The Incredible Bulkster and Super Skull but accidently crashed the Megazord into a building.
Kimberly dreamt of the time she was abducted by the Samurai Fan Man and trapped within his bottle. Finally, Jason dreamed of the time he was trapped alone again Goldar in Rita’s Dark Dimension. Collectively, the Rangers shared a dream in which Zordon stripped them of their Ranger powers forever.
Shattering the crystal
Realising what Goldar had done, Zordon instructed the teens to enter his cave and destroy the Crystal. As the teens attempted to fight the Putty Patrol, Jason managed to enter the cave and outmanoeuvre Goldar.
With one kick, Jason was able to shatter the crystal. As the crystal exploded, Goldar was covered in a hail of sparks and retreated. With the crystal gone, the teens instantly regained their self-confidence. [MMPR1: “Crystal of Nightmares“]
