The Legend of the Face Stealer

Over five thousand years ago, the people of the nation of Kahmala were terrorised by a created called Face Stealer once a year on the day of the fourth full moon. The Face Stealer would descend from the sky and rob people of their faces, leaving them without souls.

The Kahmalan Masks

In 1995, the masks used by the ancient Kahmalan warriors were on display in the Angel Grove Museum as part of an exhibit on ancient Kahmalan culture. Inspired by the legend, Rita Repulsa sent Rito Revolto to unleash the Face Stealer by capturing his urn.

Zordon was unaware if the legend of the Face Stealer was real, but when confronted by a rampaging monster, decided that they must assume the details of the story were true. The Face Stealer was able to steal the faces of the Black and Yellow Rangers, whose Ranger suits offered no protection against the power of the Face Stealer.

The remaining Rangers returned to the Angel Grove museum to borrow the masks from Azina, the cultural liaison for the Kahmalan nation. Using the masks against him, Face Stealer appeared to be both terrified and offended by their presence. The Face Stealer powers reflected off of the masks and returned the stolen faces to his victims.

When the Rangers used the Ninja Ultrazord to seal the Face Stealer in his urn, they passed the urn and the masks to Bulk and Skull, who attempted to return the artifacts to the museum. However, as the items had been reported as stolen, Bulk and Skull were apprehended by Museum security. [MMPR3: “Final Face Off“]
