Mirror Shield

The Mirror Shield was a weapon that concealed a secret mirror which the Red Ranger used in the fight against the vain Octophantom.

Mirror, mirror

Lord Zedd sent to Octophantom to Angel Grove to capture the Power Rangers and drain their powers.

During their first battle, the Blue Ranger observed that the Octophantom became distracted whenever it saw its own reflection. The monster was able to capture four of the Rangers in a magic jar before the Red Ranger and Blue Ranger retreated to the Command Center. Reflecting on the battle, Billy proposed building a device that they could use to exploit the monsters vanity.

 

Shields up

Needing time to build the new device, Jason decided to fight the monster alone while Billy came up with the solution. Billy designed a shield with a concealed mirror inside.

The shield was decorated in the style of the Blue Ranger, with white diamonds on a blue background, similar to his suit. The center of the shield was emblazoned with the image of the Triceratops Power Coin. Below this image was a small locking mechanism that kept the shield closed. The rear of the Mirror Shield had a black handle with a white button on it. When pressed, the button would open the shield, revealing three reflective surfaces inside.

The Red Ranger used the shield to get close to Octophantom before opening to reveal the mirror, both distracting and disarming the monster and gaining the upper hand. [MMPR2: “The Power Stealer“]
