Signal Blocker

The Signal Blocker was an invention of Billy’s that was used to reclaim the Dinozords from the control of the Pirantishead monster.

The wrong signals

Lord Zedd’s first monster created to attack the Earth was Pirantishead, a creature created from a piranha living in the Rampoon River. Pirantishead had the ability to cast a spell over technology, bringing it under his control. Pirantishead used this power to freeze the Dinozords and capture the Dragonzord and Tyrannosaurus. Now in control of the Zords, the Rangers were powerless to stop his rampage through Angel Grove.

Using data generated by the Command Center computers, Billy was able to determine that there was a way to interrupt the signal that was used to capture the Zords. Billy and Trini separated from the other teens and began working on the creation of the Signal Blocker device using equipment Billy had in his garage laboratory.

The Signal Blocker was a large silver cube with telescopic antenna on top of it. The internals of the device could be accessed by a hatch on the side of the machine. [MMPR2: “The Mutiny, Part II“]

 

Virtues of Signalling

Upon completion, Billy and Trini took it to the other Rangers who were under the attack of the Zords. However, when the Blue Ranger activated the device, it had no effect and the Zords continued the assault. The Rangers bought Billy some time to fix the problem by attacking Pirantishead with the Power Blaster.

When Billy opened the machine, he found that the ‘Power’ brand batteries were in upside down. As soon as the battery was switched, the blocker activated and the Zords were returned to the control of the Rangers. [MMPR2: “The Mutiny, Part III“]
