Mutant Rangers

Goldar orchestrated the creation of the Mutant Rangers by having five Putties use five of the six Badges of Darkness to morph into evil counterparts of the Blue, Yellow, Pink, Black, and Green Power Rangers. No Putty was deemed worthy of becoming the Red Mutant Ranger.

Each Mutant Ranger had an evil version of the voice of the Power Ranger whose color they matched. While the Pink and Green Mutant Rangers didn’t significantly outmatch Kimberly and Tommy initially, they later proved to be equal to the Power Rangers in hand-to-hand combat. The Mutant Rangers could teleport using energy clouds with swirling lines, and they were familiar with all of the Power Rangers’ fighting moves. Jason referred to the Red Mutant Ranger as simply the “Red Mutant.”

The Mutant Rangers, after morphing, performed their respective Rangers’ poses. Commander Crayfish, who led them, wielded a weapon identical to the unmorphed version of the Power Sword. The Mutant Rangers wielded weapons that looked exactly like the unmorphed versions of the other four Power Weapons, with the Green Mutant wielding a sword resembling the Sword of Darkness.

During combat, their abilities matched those of the Power Rangers, making them formidable opponents. In the ensuing battle, the blast from the Power Rangers’ new Power Blaster overpowered the Mutant Rangers’ Power Blaster, sending the Pink and Yellow Mutant Rangers flying. These two were not seen again, and their weapons remained on the ground.

When Commander Crayfish and the remaining Mutant Rangers grew to giant size, the Green Mutant shot a stream of green energy bolts from the diamond on his Dragon Shield. The Ultrazord’s blasts ultimately destroyed the giant Blue, Green, and Black Mutant Rangers.
