Creation and Appearance

Baboo designed Shellshock without Squatt knowing what it was initially. He sculpted the monster from light blue clay and attached a toy traffic light behind the head of the Shellshock model. This traffic light had the green light on top, yellow in the middle, and red on the bottom. Before the monster was cooked in the Monstermatic, Squatt provided Shellshock with a baseball, a miniature baseball bat, a toy cannon, a hand hook, and brass knuckles, all of which were stored in his pouch. Baboo had considered naming the monster “Greta” or “Peitouche,” but Squatt ultimately named it “Shellshock.” The monster also had two yellow zeroes on his back.

Abilities

Shellshock possessed a variety of unique abilities linked to his traffic light and other features:

  • Go-Beam: Shellshock could emit a “go-beam” from his traffic light, which caused objects to explode. This beam made the Yellow Ranger unable to stop running.
  • Baseball Bat: Shellshock could retract his right arm and extend it holding a baseball bat. He could then use this bat to launch a barrage of baseballs at the Rangers from just a single original baseball.
  • Stop-Beam: Shellshock’s stop-beam could freeze opponents in their tracks. He used this beam to immobilize morphed Billy, Zack, and Kimberly.
  • Cannon: By retracting his head and extending a cannon barrel, Shellshock could fire explosive blasts.

Encounter and Battle

Shellshock used his go-beam to cause the teens’ basketball to explode and later made the Yellow Ranger unable to stop running. His stop-beam then immobilized several Rangers, leaving them vulnerable. Despite Alpha’s initial belief that there was no cure for Shellshock’s stoplight freeze ray, Zordon mentioned a rare flower called the deandra, which could reverse the effects.

During the battle, Shellshock transformed into a giant, wielding a bat in one hand and a hook in the other. The golden sprinkles from the deandra flowers shorted out Shellshock’s traffic light, weakening him. The Rangers, using the Tyrannosaurus’s ground breath attack, ultimately disintegrated giant Shellshock.

Shellshock later appeared as one of the monster hallucinations that charged at the teens on the Island of Illusion.
