Hatchasaurus had a rugged, reptilian appearance with a body covered in spikes. His chest glowed with orange energy, and his back was designed to resemble a rocky landscape, enabling him to blend in when partially buried.
Encounter and Battle
Rita buried Hatchasaurus near a power plant to ambush the Rangers. When he first appeared, Hatchasaurus did not speak and immediately engaged in battle. Goldar noted that if Hatchasaurus stopped the Dragonzord, the Rangers would be vulnerable. In the initial battle, the Tyrannosaurus ground blast destroyed Hatchasaurus, but Cardiatron reassembled him. Hatchasaurus used his glowing chest to shock the Megazord with blue electricity. The Rangers eventually used the Power Sword to destroy him, but Cardiatron quickly reconstructed Hatchasaurus with additional horns.
During the second battle, Hatchasaurus, now equipped with horns, shot yellow energy bolts. Red Ranger leapt down his throat to reach and disconnect Cardiatron. Despite these efforts, Cardiatron managed to reconstruct Hatchasaurus multiple times until the Ultrazord’s blasts finally destroyed the monster after Cardiatron had been neutralized.
Subsequent Encounters
Hatchasaurus returned when Terror Blossom summoned him to keep the Rangers occupied. This time, Hatchasaurus could speak and recognized the Rangers. The Thunder Megazord attacked him with a smoke blast, causing Hatchasaurus to fall and explode, but Cardiatron began to rebuild him again.
Zordon instructed the White Ranger to destroy Cardiatron before Hatchasaurus could be reassembled. Despite these efforts, Lord Zedd used his staff’s energy to help reassemble Hatchasaurus around Cardiatron, who hovered and was surrounded by red vapors during the process.
In his later form, Hatchasaurus alternated between having horns and not having horns. He summoned small pods on his shoulders that shot fiery projectiles, knocking the Thunder Megazord and Tigerzord over. Hatchasaurus shot orange energy bolts from his horns and withstood a powerful chop from the Thunder Saber, writhing in pain with red vapors emerging from his body.
In the final confrontation, Hatchasaurus charged at the Zords but was destroyed by a thunderbolt from the Tigerzord.
