Appearance
Pudgy Pig had a distinctive and comical appearance, resembling an oversized pig with human-like features. Made from a lighter and slightly bluer clay than other monsters, his body was round and bulbous. He had a large, pig-like face with a prominent snout and expressive eyes. Pudgy Pig wore a Roman-style helmet with a red plume, enhancing his quirky look. Interestingly, he had human hands visible near where pig thumbs would have been, adding to his odd appearance.
Abilities
Pudgy Pig possessed a range of unique abilities, primarily centered around his voracious appetite. His most notable plan was to consume the entire world’s food supply, a task Zordon estimated he could complete in just 48 hours. Upon his creation, Pudgy Pig initially held a knife and fork, symbolizing his insatiable hunger, although he didn’t retain these utensils when he teleported to Earth.
He had the ability to teleport in a yellow fireball, creating a dramatic entrance. This teleportation later manifested as a fire cloud effect. Unlike most monsters, Pudgy Pig demonstrated only very basic language abilities, typically focusing on his primal urge to eat.
One of his most dangerous abilities was his suction breath, which he used to pull the Rangers towards him. He also had the capacity to eat their Power Weapons, demonstrating his ability to consume not just food. After swallowing the Power Weapons, Pudgy Pig expelled a powerful cyclone from his mouth, sending the Rangers through a colorful vortex and leaving them unmorphed in a park.
However, his gluttony also proved to be his weakness. When the Rangers fed him spicy food, Pudgy Pig became sick and regurgitated the Power Weapons, allowing the Rangers to recover their strength. In a final confrontation, the Rangers used the Power Blaster to destroy Pudgy Pig, breaking him into bits of rock. Despite this, Rita’s wand reassembled and enlarged him, turning him into a giant. Nevertheless, the Megazord Power Sword ultimately destroyed the giant Pudgy Pig, ending his threat.
Additional Appearances
Pudgy Pig reappeared as one of the monster hallucinations on the Island of Illusion, charging at the teens only to vanish when they stood their ground. This appearance underscored the lingering fear he instilled, even after his initial defeat.
Norman the Pig
In a later scheme, Rita had a Putty give a normal pig named Norman to the teens for pet adoption day, with a timer device set to transform Norman into Pudgy Pig. Bulk adopted Norman and took him to school and the Juice Bar. Once the timer stopped, Norman transformed into Pudgy Pig with red energy. Interestingly, upon transforming, Pudgy Pig wasn’t immediately hostile; he simply sought food.
Pudgy Pig fought the Rangers on a rooftop downtown, using his white cyclone breath again, though this time it had little effect on the Rangers. During the battle, Pudgy Pig retreated and ended up at a farm, where he flirted with a female pig. Trini noted that one of Rita’s real monsters could never fall in love like Pudgy Pig had, highlighting his unique nature.
After the Rangers’ fight with a giant Goldar, Billy recalibrated the transformer device to revert Norman back to his original form. The owner of the pig Norman had fallen for agreed to adopt him, despite Bulk and Skull’s previous claim to him.
