Tor joins the team

During the battle with Lord Zedd’s Four Head monster, the Rangers quickly found themselves in a losing battle despite forming the Mega TigerzordZordon instructed Alpha 5 to activate Tor the Shuttlezord, which would help the Rangers win their victory. The history of the Zord was unclear, but Zordon and Alpha’s familiarity with the machine and its compatibility with the Thunderzords suggests that it may have been created as part of the creation of the Thunderzord fleet.

Tor the Shuttlezord (Warrior Mode)

Tor took an offensive position against Four Head. The Zord retracted its neck into its shell and extended a series of small energy cannons from the rear of the large shoulder cannons. Tor rolled back on its rear section, presenting its shell to Four Head. In this standing formation, Tor was able to aim its smaller cannons against the monster, which would fire and rapidly reload.

In this Warrior Mode, Tor was able to open top of its shell to allow the Red Dragon Warrior Mode to dock within it. The interior of Tor appeared to be a dark, black space with large silver structures resembling scaffolding. Once inside, the Red Dragon Warrior Mode was fed green energy from a series of large cables connected to the Zord. Once the charging was completed, the shell reopened and the Red Dragon emerged, now glowing red. [MMPR2: “A Monster of Global Proportions“]

Whilst Tor had strong defensive capabilities, its size could also be a point of weakness. A strong enough force would be able to knock Tor over, preventing the weapons of Warrior Mode from being utilised. Serpentera was able to exploit this vulnerability on the Deserted Planet [MMPR2: “The Power Transfer, Part II“] and again on Earth. [MMPR2: “Rocky Just Wants to Have Fun“]

Fate of the Thunderzords

During the confrontation against Rito Revolto, the Thunder Megazord and White Tiger Warrior Mode was outnumbered against Rito and his monster gang. The damaged Thunderzord power accelerator was at peak level due to the power bank leaking energy, despite Alpha 5’s best efforts to contain it. With the unstable power accelerator beyond limits, the Thunderzords began to explode and fall apart piece by piece, with no way to revitalise them. As Tor was not involved in the battle, its fate is unknown. [MMPR3: “Ninja Quest, Part I“]
