Initially used by Tommy and Kat to locate the wizard Lerigot in central Africa, the Turbo Navigators have since been primarily employed to detect and disarm Divatox’s detonators.
Functions and Capabilities
The Turbo Navigators are versatile devices equipped with a variety of functions. They can automatically respond to any extraterrestrial organism or device, eliminating the need for manual adjustments when tracking detonators. Each Navigator is a compact, user-friendly tool that displays information on a 3-D grid, providing real-time data on the location and status of detected objects.
When not in use, the Turbo Navigators are recharged at the Power Chamber, ensuring they are always ready for action. The Rangers often carry these devices with them at all times, ready to deploy them at a moment’s notice. In addition to their primary scanning function, the Turbo Navigators can transform into ‘Defender Mode,’ a gun with a high-tech scope capable of scanning targets for weaknesses. This mode enhances their versatility, allowing them to serve both as detection devices and weapons.
Key Deployments
The Turbo Navigators have been crucial in several key missions. For instance, they played a pivotal role in locating Lerigot, with Tommy using the device to track the wizard with what appeared to be a thermal or elevation map. They were also instrumental in detecting Divatox’s detonators scattered throughout Angel Grove, allowing the Rangers to neutralize these threats before they could cause harm.
In combat, the Turbo Navigators have proven equally valuable. In Defender Mode, they can combine with an Auto Blaster to form the Auto Blast Defender, a powerful double-handled long-range firearm. This configuration has been used effectively in various battles, such as when Ashley and Cassie used the Turbo Navigator in Defender Mode to target and blast mutant bees, or when Ashley employed the Auto Blast Defender to destroy Maniac Mechanic’s battle wagon with a massive explosion.
