Titanus

Titanus was the carrierzord ally of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It was capable of combining with the Dinozords, Ninjazords and Shogunzords.

Discovering Titanus

When Rita Repulsa sent her squadron of enhanced Super Putties to fight the Power Rangers, Zordon responded by sending Jason and Tommy on a mission to recover a set of special weapons which could destroy them. During the search, they were attacked by a large unknown Dinozord which appeared to be protecting the weapons- Titanus.

With a long articulated neck and tail, the Zord appeared to be based on the ancient Brachiosaurus. Mostly white in color, it also featured black and gold accents throughout the neck and body. The chest of the zord featured a t-section with five golden-rimmed circles. The long tail of the Zord was split into two sections which were joined by a large bar.

Unbeknownst to Jason and Tommy, Zordon had deliberately sent them against this Dinozord as a test to teach them the value of working together. As the Zord attacked, it caused a rockslide which forced the teens to Morph. Using the Dragon Dagger and the Power Sword together, the Green Ranger was able to attack with energy bolts which appeared to stun the Zord momentarily. The Red Ranger scrambled to retrieve the weapons whilst the Green Ranger distracted Titanus.

Wearing the Dragon Shield, the Red Ranger was able to withstand the onslaught of Titanus’s fireballs, which deflected to the ground. Upon their return to the Command Center, Zordon introduced Titanus to the Rangers, informing them that he was part of a test and would actually be a valuable ally and friend. [MMPR1: “Gung Ho!“]

Powers and abilities

Titanus was heavily armored and could withstand heavy assaults and collisions. When called upon to fight the Dramole, Titanus burst through a mountainous rock face with no apparent damage to the Zord. [MMPR1: “Return of an Old Friend, Part II“]

In addition to the fireballs that fired from the Zord’s mouth, the tail of Titanus could split and mount upon its shoulders to form a pair of large cannons. Whilst these cannons alone were never show to be able to destroy any giant monsters, when in Ultrazord formation, the resulting barrage could. [MMPR1: “Wheel of Misfortune“]

However, these abilities were not able to protect Titanus from environmental attacks. When Rita Repulsa used her Magic Wand to collapse the ground beneath Titanus, it was helpless as it sank beneath the earth. [MMPR1: “Doomsday, Part I“] Fortunately, Zordon was able to retrieve and re-energize the Zord allowing it to be used in battle again. [MMPR1: “Doomsday, Part II“]

Ultrazord

The Zord was able to act as the carrierzord for the Dinozords, Ninjazords and Shogunzords. Titanus was able to form the Ultrazord by combining with the Mega Dragonzord. [MMPR1: “Wheel of Misfortune“]

In 1995, Alpha 5 made modifications to the Zord which would allow it to accommodate the Ninja Megazord and form the Ninja Ultrazord. [MMPR3: “Final Face-Off“]

By the time that the Rangers had acquired the use of the Shogunzord fleet, Titanus was able to accommodate the Shogun Megafalconzord and form the Shogun Ultrazord. The Shogun Ultrazord was only formed once and was the final appearance of Titanus, with its final fate being unknown. [MMPR3: “The Sound of Dischordia“]

With no further mention of the Zord, it can be assumed that it was either returned to its hiding place or dismantled to be used in the construction of new Zords.
